Strange that it would have been translated as if it were someone's name!

I'd like to see Kaza-hana; there is a Japanese DVD, but I suspect it's not subbed (as usual).

I agree on "Typhoon Club" -- there are many wonderful aspects in terms of images (and performances), but the script increasingly develops problems as the film proceeds.

Kevin --

All the Bach Film releases of Barnet (and Kozintsev, etc) are subbed only in French. I'd love to see a fully-restored, properly (English) subbed version available. This delightful film really deserves a bigger audience.Michael E. I also saw Somai's last movie, Kaza-hana, which was generally considered an off film, but which I admired, especially after a second viewing.

The Typhoon Club is amazing in many ways, but there's an artifice to the script that doesn't completely work for me.

I sent you an email about the Barnet....Dan Sallitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13136066978329749513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8586568821168314585.post-49841216032534978692007-12-28T10:47:00.000-05:002007-12-28T10:47:00.000-05:00So far, in addition to Moving, I've seen Sômai's S...So far, in addition to Moving, I've seen Sômai's Sailor Suit and Machine Gun (entertaining, but a bit disappointing), Typhoon Club (liked it a lot most of the way through -- but it lost me at the end), and Ah haru / Wait and See (which I found a lot more engaging than Mark Schilling's review led me to expect).

I'd love to see lots more -- especially Natsu no niwa (which apparently starred Chikage Awashima).Michael E. If you can read French, I might be able to lend you this.

I've only managed to see 4 Somai films so far.
